Moses: Preparation for Leasdership(1)

Scripture Reading: Acts 7:17-22

Key Verse: At that time Moses was born and he was no ordinary child...(Acts1:20)

Meditation: Most people in leadership will tell you that the single factor that most shaped their lives was their home life, including their parents. Without question, the daring faith of Moses' parents laid the ground work for God's subsequent dealing with Moses himself.  the parents bequeathed their lasting legacy to Moses whose final stage of training would take place away from the safe guard of home in a very hostile environments . God again demonstrated His protective care of Israel's future leader by allowing him to learn from his parents first before he would be exposed to pagan Egyptian teachers.

The biblical record does not give us many details about Amram, father or his mother, Jochebed, except they were decedents from the tribe of Levi, form whom the priestly line was ordained. Aaron, the older bother, later became the high priest over Israel. From one humble slave home there emerged in the darkens hour of Israel's history tow significant  leaders: Moses, who shaped their political destiny and Aaron  would guide their spiritual course of events.

How did Moses' parents prepare him for those years in the courts and schools of Egypt? What history did his mother rehearse repeatedly to him? God's divine protection during the months of hiding and the many deliverance in his young life; the parents' mutual inspiration to make a little basket ark in which he was placed, protected and directed to the very place where the princess was bathing; the regular visits to Joseph's unburied coffin and his last words, " don't bury me in Egypt". Perhaps Moses even said, "When I get to be g big man I will carry his bones out of this land.(Exodus 13:19)

Thought for the Day: God is at work in us today preparing us for what He wants to through us tomorrow.
