Moses: Prepartionf or Leadership (4)

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:24-29

Key Verse:   He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value...(Hebrews 11: 26)

Meditation:  Two important ingredients are present in most life changing decisions. Moses, like us, had to say a firm "No" to one option before he can say a wholehearted, "Yes" to the other. He has to also reject the riches of Egypt, the lust of the eyes. Finally, he has to refuse to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, the pride of life. But Moses did more than merely say "No". After saying "No" he decisively pursued the other option, God's will.

Moses  understood the pleasures of sin could only be engaged in the present. Once sin was committed, the pleasure would soon fade and only guilt would remain. If sin were not repented of, it would lead to eternal ruin and separation form God. If Moses remained at Pharaoh's palace and openly indulged in sin, he would have been guilty of one of the most serious charg0rs of all, the sin of apostasy. He would have wilfully rejected divine truth.

Moses  determined to follow God's road because of the eternal reward awaiting him. He understood that by identifying with Israel he would be participating in the spiritual destiny God had purposed for the entire world through the coming of the Messiah. Moses became an important  link  in the destiny because of that faith-choice to relinquish his known present for the future reproach of Christ. No wonder that on the Mount of Transfiguration thousands of years later Moses was called to talk with Jesus.

Thought for the Day:  The most important decision in life is to give up the "passing" for the "eternal."
