Portrait of Jesus

Scripture Reading: Revelation 1:1-10,1Pe 2:5-9

1 This is the revelation which God gave to Yeshua the Messiah, so that he could show his servants what must happen very soon. He communicated it by sending his angel to his servant Yochanan, 2 who bore witness to the Word of God and to the testimony of Yeshua the Messiah, as much as he saw. 3 Blessed are the reader and hearers of the words of this prophecy, provided they obey the things written in it! For the time is near!
4 From: Yochanan (John)
To: The seven Messianic(Christian) communities in the province of Asia:
Grace and shalom to you from the One who is, who was and who is coming; from the *sevenfold Spirit before his throne; 5 and from Yeshua the Messiah, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the earth’s kings.
To him, the one who loves us, who has freed us from our sins at the cost of his blood, 6 who has caused us to be a kingdom, that is, cohanim(priest) for God, his Father — to him be the glory and the ruler-ship forever and ever. Amen.
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds! Every eye will see him, including those who pierced him;and all the tribes of the Land will mourn him.Yes! Amen!8 “I am the ‘A’ and the ‘Z,’” says Adonai, God of heaven’s armies, the One who is, who was and who is coming.
 (Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

Key  Verse: .. .Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth (Revelation 1:5)

Meditation: Jesus witnessed to us of His Father’s nature and plan for our world.  Jesus said to Thomas, “He that has seen me has seen the Father." He not only tells us verbally about God; He also obeys God’s plan and fulfills it  in His  willing death sacrifice for the human race, for all of us.

Jesus  rose from death to give us hope. God pledged Him as the first of a great company who will follow Him. All of us who trust in Christ have potentially  conquered the last and grimmest foe, death.

He loves us, frees us from our sins and makes us royalty (kings) and intersessors (priests) before God. Now, by His marvelous act of redemption  He equips us to serve dual offices in His work on earth. We have the authority of His power (as King) and the efficacy of His complete sacrifice for us (Priest).

Thought for the Day: And in addition to all this, He promises to come back to our earth and everyone will recognize Him as the Almighty, who was and is and is to come (Revelation 1:8).

* the Seven Spirits are

I.  Spirit of Truth

John 15:26 (CJB)When the Counselor comes, whom I will send you from the Father — the Spirit of Truth, who keeps going out from the Father — he will testify on my behalf.
1 John 4:6 (CJB) We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God doesn’t listen to us. This is how we distinguish the Spirit of truth from the spirit of error.

2.  Spirit of Power, Love, Self-Displine

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."

5.  Spirit of Wisdom

Deuteronomy 34:9 (NLT)   "Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him.  So the people of Israel obeyed him and did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses."
Proverbs 1:23   Repent when I reprove - I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make my words known to you.

6.  Spirit of Judgment

7.  Spirit of Life

Zechariah 12:10 (NLT)
"Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on all the people of Jerusalem.  They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son.  They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died."
