The God who Calls (2)

Scripture Reading: Exodus 2:23-25

Key Verse: And God heard their groaning... remembered his covenant... and God looked on the Israelis because he has concerned about them (Exodus 2:24)

Meditation: The next lesson Moses learned must have been very reassuring. He discover in those long years of silence God had in fact been listening to the prayers of Israel.  We also tend to equate God's silences with a lack of concern. In those dark nights of the soul we must remind ourselves not to misconstrue His silence with disinterest.

We may never witness the supernatural burning bush or the parting of the waters, but  we keep trusting in His faithfulness and in the integrity of His covenant  of love. During these waiting times we expect that God is always at work in history moving it inevitable toward His preordained purpose. Let us firmly believe that when His moment of divine fulfillment comes, He will finalize what hardly seems to be in process today. God works in unobtrusive ways through people who do not feel the need to be in the spotlight.

Moses also discovered that the passing of time does not erase God's prior covenant promises.
God's faithfulness extends from one generation to another, even bridging the gaps of the people's unfaithfulness and unbelief. God's abrupt appearance to Moses came because of His previous commitment to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

God has actually kept his promise to Abraham. Long centuries of Old Testament expectations have at last been fulfilled. The new covenant has been made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus. All who repent of their sins and turn to God(Jesus) will know that personal  fulfillment of Jeremiah 31:34" For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

Thought for the Day: Our Bible is divided in half, into Old and New Covenants(Testaments). In both covenants God Himself keeps the main responsibilities.

The New Testament presents His Grace independent of our works. The Old Testament speaks about the works of man and how we all have fallen short of perfection. Any Questions? Leave a comment.
