Following God Finding a Dead End (4)

Scripture Reading: Exodus 14: 13,14

Key Verse: “The LORD will fight  for you: you need only to be still (Exodus 14:14).

Meditation: A grandfather gave his grandson five items of advice about broken things: Some broken things just cannot be fixed; some will fix themselves with time; some have to be fixed by others; some must be fixed by me and some only* God can fix.

We are relieved to learn that we are not expected to fix everything that is broken around us.
It is  however, very easy to get in God's way as He is in the process of repairing something.
If Moses had interfered with God  at the Red Sea when God was working out the details for Israel’s deliverance, the whole nation may have perished.

An aerial view of the  actual crossing.

Perhaps the psalmist had this situation in mind when he exhorted, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalms 46:10). There are times when we just need the discipline to let fight for us. Most of our lost battles in life were never intended for us to fight on our own. Pharaoh appeared very threatening to Israel, but he was no match for God. When Israel stood still, God placed the cloud between the approaching Egyptians and Israel in order protect them. Egypt could not see the Israelis and were also blinded what God was doing on the other side of the cloud. While they waited, a strong wind parted the waters and two million slaves marched to freedom. The Egyptian army tried to follow, but the Egyptian deities could not change God’s plan. As the soldiers drowned they cried, " The God  of Israel is fighting against us!” (Exodus 14:25).

Thought for the Day: I will be silent before God so as not to hinder Him from opening my Red Sea before me.

God loves to bless us with scientific possibilities.

And with curious scientists who want to know the truth of the Word of God.
